A total of 44 firefighters from the OCFA and the Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa fire departments battled a fire last night outside a landscaping business, Wm. Vandergeest Landscape Care, at the 1900 block of South Yale St., in Santa Ana, not far from Centennial Park, according to the O.C. Register.

Santa Ana’s latest gang-related shooting happened on Friday at Centennial Park at around 5:30 p.m. when three male Hispanic adult suspects shot confronted a lone Hispanic man and one of the suspects ended up firing a single round, hitting the victim in his upper torso, according to the O.C. Register.
The injury was not considered to be life-threatening. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Continue reading
One of our readers reported yesterday on our Facebook page that there was a shooting at Centennial Park. Today that was verified by the O.C. Register as they reported that one man was shot and two others pistol-whipped by gangbangers at Centennial park on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspects, as many as six males, approached three 19-year-old men at the park, which is located at 3000 Edinger Ave., yesterday at around 4 p.m. Then, as usual, the suspects asked the victims where they were from and gunfire ensued, leaving one victim wounded in his lower torso. Continue reading

The SAPD arrested two robbery suspects on Monday, a few hours after a gang-related attack in which a pedestrian was struck by a car that appeared similar to the one used in the robbery, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers got a call at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, regarding some teenagers who were robbed of their money and their skateboards while they were at Centennial Regional Park, which has a skate park, located at 3000 W. Edinger Ave., in Santa Ana,. The robbers were a man and a teenage boy, who was armed with a handgun. Continue reading
On October 26, 2015 at approximately 5:22 am, Fountain Valley Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Mt. Gustin Street and Berg River Circle (which is just west of Centennial Park) in reference to a vehicle burglary in progress by two male suspects.
When Officers arrived on scene, they located one male subject running away from the area. Officers stopped the subject and identified him as Daniel Vasquez, 5/10/96, of Santa Ana. Continue reading
On Oct. 15, 2015, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Fountain Valley police officers responded to the 16300 block of Everest Circle, in Fountain Valley (just west of Santa Ana’s Centennial Park and just northeast from Los Amigos High School) regarding a call about fireworks or gunshots in the area. The officers searched the area but it was quiet when they arrived and no evidence of a crime was located.
Approximately forty minutes later the Fountain Valley Police Dispatcher received a call from a local hospital that two gunshot victims had arrived at their emergency room. Continue reading
Gennieve Marie Rankin, 25-years-old, passed away last Friday in a tragic car accident. She leaves behind her husband, Santiago “El Chago” Duran and a 4-year-old daughter and funeral bills that her family cannot contend with by themselves.
Her family is hosting a Kermes this Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Centennial Park in Santa Ana, located at 3000 W. Edinger Ave., starting at 10 a.m., to raise funds to help pay for her funeral.

The dead man whose body was found floating in the lake at Santa Ana’s Centennial Park has been identified as 31-year-old Modesto Tapia-Clara of Huntington Beach, according to the O.C. Register.
Tapia-Clara’s body was found floating in the lake on Wednesday morning, by a city worker. SAPD detectives still don’t know how he met his end or why his body was in the water. Apparently there are no signs of foul play or trauma on the body.
The Orange County Coroner’s office will be performing an autopsy on the body this Friday to try to determine the official cause of death. Continue reading

The City of Santa Ana’s Parks and Recreation Agency is hosting their annual July 4th At Centennial Park on Fri, July 4, from 4:00 pm – 9:30 pm at 3000 W Edinger Ave, Centennial Park, in Santa Ana.
