SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport (JWA) anticipates a busier-than-normal travel period from Thursday, August 31 through Tuesday, September 5 during the Labor Day holiday weekend. More than 169,000 passengers traveled through JWA during the same period in 2016 with the busiest travel days being the Thursday and Friday before and the Tuesday following Labor Day.
A suspected car thief led the California Highway Patrol in a pursuit that started in Laguna Beach and ended in by the John Wayne Airport, according to the O.C. Register.
As is often the case the car in question, a blue Honda Civic, was reported stolen in Santa Ana. The suspect took the stolen car to Laguna Beach where local police officers tried to stop the driver but of course he took off, traveling down Newport Coast Drive before heading southbound on the 73. JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT INVITES ORANGE COUNTY STUDENTS TO ENTER 27TH ANNUAL STUDENT ART CONTEST
SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport’s (JWA) 27th annual Student Art Contest is underway. All Orange County public and private school students, including home-schooled students, in grades kindergarten through 12 are encouraged to submit artwork inspired by this year’s theme, “Beyond the Clouds.” Entries should be submitted to the Orange County Department of Education, any Orange County Public Library Branch or participating city libraries, no later than 4 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016.

James Carroll, a 35-year-old man was arrested Monday after he ran from police and tried to hide in a helicopter at John Wayne Airport, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The Newport Beach police responded to to a call at about 3:40 p.m. about a man who needed medical attention at the 19700 block of Campus Drive, which is just outside the airport, in Newport Beach. Continue reading

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES® ANNOUNCES NEW NONSTOP ROUTES FROM JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
SANTA ANA, Calif. – Today, Southwest Airlines announced new nonstop service from John Wayne Airport (JWA) to St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri. Southwest routed their specialty plane, Missouri One, through John Wayne Airport this morning to introduce the new destinations. Service to Kansas City (MCI) and St. Louis (STL), Missouri, will begin on November 22, 2015. Todd Spitzer, Chairman, Orange County Board of Supervisors; Dave Harvey, Southwest Airlines’ Senior Director of Network Planning and Performance; and Laura DeSoto, Chair, Orange County Business Council Board of Directors shared their excitement for these new routes during a media event overlooking John Wayne Airport’s Thomas F.
