An unidentified man was wounded while riding a bicycle, early on Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, just past midnight, at Cedar St. and Edinger Ave., just south of Madison Park, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The brief break in reported shootings in Santa Ana appears to be over as two minors were wounded at about 12:45 a.m. this morning at the 1600 block of South Evergreen St., by Madison Park, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim included two males and a female, who were apparently walking along the street when a vehicle pulled up and an armed male suspect got out of it. It’s a New Year today but last year’s violence in Santa Ana has continued as two men were shot on New Year’s Eve and early on New Year’s Day, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers responded on Thursday night, at about 9:50 p.m., to a shooting call at the 1000 block of South Sullivan Street, just west of Jerome Park, where they found that a male homeless person had been shot from behind by an unknown attacker.
The homeless victim was shot in the lower calf and ended up at a local hospital with a wound that did not appear to be life-threatening. Continue reading
Marcello Bisarello, a 24-year-old resident of Santa Ana, has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car on Tuesday, according to the O.C. Register.
Bisarello was sitting on a curb just before 1:10 p.m. at the 800 block of East McFadden Avenue when he was fatally struck by Ramon Horta-Jaime (aka Jaime Ramon Horta), 55, who was driving a Ford Windstar van eastbound on the street before swerving, police said.
A witness, Cesar Guzman of Santa Ana, was driving behind Horta-Jaime’s minivan when he saw the vehicle swerve up onto the curb and make a loud bang. Then Guzman said that he “saw something rolling over under the car and when it came out it was … a person,” according to KTLA. Continue reading
There have been a lot of strange vehicle accidents in Santa Ana this summer but this latest incident might top the list. A man drove his Nissan SUV into an ambulance that was rushing to respond to a medical emergency on Standard Ave., on Wednesday at about 10:05 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.
This has already been one of the bloodiest summers in Santa Ana with regard to pedestrian versus car accidents. A week after a 6-year-old boy on a skateboard was killed by a car in the parking lot of the Villa Del Sol apartment complex another 6-year-old boy was injured by a minivan on Sunday night, at around 9:40 p.m., in the 1800 block of South Evergreen Street, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim in this latest accident allegedly ran between two parked cars into the street when he was hit by the minivan. He suffered facial injuries and was taken to a local hospital but he did not suffer any major injuries, according to the SAPD. Continue reading

Santa Ana is part of the First District of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and our elected representative is Janet Nguyen, who currently is preoccupied with running for the 34th State Senate District. So preoccupied apparently that she has blown off, repeatedly, the Santa Ana residents and business owners who are fighting the O.C. Supervisors’ decision to open up a huge homeless shelter at 1217 Normandy Place, in Santa Ana.
Nguyen isn’t the only local politician who has been MIA on this issue. Santa Ana Councilman Vince Sarmiento represents that area and one of the ladies who is fighting the shelter, Dora Lopez, tells me that he too has refused to meet with local residents and business owners. This is the same useless Sarmiento that pulled papers to run for Mayor but thankfully withdrew from that race.
The OC Board of Supervisors approved the $3.6-million purchase of the 23,220-square-foot industrial warehouse at 1217 Normandy Place back on July 15,2014, according to the L.A. Times. Continue reading
