Santa Claus is Coming to Town for 25th Annual Stuff-A-Bus
The yearly event brings people together to help collect toys for local kids in need during the holidays
ORANGE – Those looking to make Santa’s nice list this year can do so by donating toys at the 25th annual Stuff-A-Bus event on Friday, Dec. 15 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
The public is encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys or sporting equipment to the Honda Center west parking lot at 2695 E. Katella Ave. in Anaheim from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Toys will be distributed to children in need throughout the community. Continue reading
FOOD SHORTAGE: OC RESCUE MISSION CALLS ON COMMUNITY FOR URGENTLY NEEDED THANKSGIVING DONATIONS
As the holidays quickly approach, the Orange County Rescue Mission is preparing to host its 52nd annual Thanksgiving dinner, which will feed more than 660 homeless families and individuals in the region. Today, the organization has announced an urgent need for food donations from the local community.
“Thanksgiving dinner is an important gathering for both the Village of Hope residents and those living in surrounding areas, many of whom have never had the opportunity to take part in a traditional Thanksgiving dinner,” says Jim Palmer, President of the Orange County Rescue Mission. “We are currently experiencing a shortage of food, and we urgently need the help of the community in order to provide a memorable holiday experience for these men, women, and children in need.”

OC RESCUE MISSION CALLS FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT TO HELP SEND HOMELESS CHILDREN TO SUMMER CAMP
Orange County, Calif. – The Orange County Rescue Mission is in critical need of the community’s help to provide funding for its fifth annual “Summer to Remember” program, a nine-week summer camp for children living at the Village of Hope, a transitional living facility for homeless individuals and families.
Starting at just $15 per day per child, community members can choose to sponsor one day, one week, or even the entire summer for a homeless child.
The program, which begins on June 19 and is designed for children ages 5 to 12, provides kids with STEM-based learning activities, as well as a curriculum that focuses on building solid foundations in science, technology, engineering and math. Continue reading
The family and friends of Edwin Fuentes, the U.S. Army Veteran whose life was cut short on May 16, 2017, in Tustin when the police opened fire on him, are trying to raise money to pay for his funeral. The family and friends of Isaac Gonzalez, a 15-year old TKO boxer who was shot and murdered by gangbangers in Santa Ana on March 25, is hosting a Kermes and Car Wash to help pay for his funeral expenses on April 2, 2017, starting at 7 a.m., at 2023 S. Susan St., in Santa Ana.
A Kermes is a what a Catholic religious bazaar is called in Spanish. It’s usually a fundraiser, often held at a church, where rides, games, music, dancing and food are available. In Santa Ana Kermes are often used to help local families to pay for funeral expenses and also to help to pay medical bills when someone becomes very ill. Continue reading

KPMG volunteers will read to students; 1,000 new books to be distributed to children
As part of KPMG’s nationwide “Read to Succeed” initiative, its 100+ offices throughout the United States are conducting events in the coming weeks at schools and organizations in low-income communities at which KPMG people, spouses, family members, and alumni, will volunteer their time to get more than 150,000 new books into the hands of children who need them most.
In Santa Ana, KPMG volunteers will be reading to Taft’s K-6 general education, special education, deaf, and hard of hearing students and providing each of them with books. Continue reading

Nonprofit’s Programs Help Underserved, Pregnant Women and their Families to Have Healthy Babies
SANTA ANA, Calif. (March 20, 2017) – Santa Ana-based nonprofit MOMS Orange County is now offering free Spanish-language childbirth preparation classes, as well as free Spanish-language “Mommy and Me” classes for parents-to-be and new parents in partnership with the Costa Mesa Family Resource Center.
Each of the courses will be held at the Costa Mesa Family Resource Center, located in the Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living in Newport Beach at 307 Placentia Ave. The classes are part of MOMS Orange County’s Health Education program and are specifically designed to enable new and expecting parents to gain the knowledge necessary to have a healthy pregnancy, positive childbirth experience, and give their baby the best possible start in life.
