On Thursday, August 24, 2017 at approximately 10:01 PM, the Santa Ana Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the 500 block of South Shelley Street in the city of Santa Ana. Upon arrival, Officers found an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Orange County Fire Authority Paramedics responded. Santa Ana Police arrest four gang members suspected of committing a series of street robberies and carjackings. The robbery series started on 8-2-2017 continued until 8-9-2017 and encompassed various neighborhoods throughout the city.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has cleared Detective David Prewett, an SAPD police officer who shot and killed Steve Salgado, an unarmed 18-year-old, who was running from members of the Santa Ana Police Department’s Gang Suppression Unit, according to the O.C. Register.
The incident happened on Jan. 29, at around 4:40 p.m., at the 400 block of South Birch St., in Santa Ana, when Prewett and five other SAPD police officers were patrolling the neighborhood when the saw an occpuied vehicle parked in the middle of an alley, effectively blocking street traffic. Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Santa Ana police tried to stop a vehicle for various violations including no license plate and no seatbelts, according to NBC News.
The driver, a documented gang member who was later identified as Jesus Arturo Martinez, refused to pull over so the police began to pursue his vehicle on local streets at speeds that topped 90 mph. At one point the suspect even drove the wrong way on the street, according to the SAPD. Continue reading

The Tustin Police Department is investigating a shooting which resulted in homicide, on Sunday, July 9. The incident occurred on Mitchell St. between Red Hill and Browning, at about 3:56 p.m., according to the Tustin Police Department.
The deceased man has been identified as 23-year-old Israel Corpus of Tustin, according to the O.C. Coroner. Corpus died at the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. Continue reading

The brief break in reported shootings in Santa Ana appears to be over as two minors were wounded at about 12:45 a.m. this morning at the 1600 block of South Evergreen St., by Madison Park, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim included two males and a female, who were apparently walking along the street when a vehicle pulled up and an armed male suspect got out of it. He began to fire multiple shots at the victims. One male and the female were injured in their lower extremities with what were described as non-life threatening wounds. On Tuesday, April 18 at about 4:30 p.m., at 600 S. Standard, in a residential neighborhood, SAPD police officers were dispatched to the area after reports of a shooting that had just occurred, according to SAPD Case # CI#: 17-10369.
Upon arrival the police officers located several shell casings at the scene. Based on witness information, a Hispanic male adult was walking northbound on the west sidewalk of 600 S. Standard as a vehicle, occupied by several subjects, approached driving southbound. A passenger from the vehicle fired several gun shots at the subject walking on the sidewalk. Continue reading

Victim: Identification Pending Notification
On April 15, 2017 at approximately 2:10 a.m. the Santa Ana Police Department received reports of a man down on the sidewalk at 621 E. Chestnut Avenue.
Officers arrived and found a 19 year-old male victim of a gunshot wound. Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and determined the case to be gang-related. Continue reading
An unidentified man was wounded Wednesday at around 3:45 p.m. in an apparent gang-related shooting that occurred in an alley at the 2100 block of West Myrtle St., according to the O.C. Register.
The shooting victim, a 19-year old Santa Ana man, was shot in his upper torso by a suspect who approached him and two other men as they were smoking marijuana in an alley. Continue reading

On Saturday at about 1 a.m., several calls of a shooting were received from the area of 500 South Marine. SAPD police officers located a large party at 528 S. Marine and witnesses at the party reported that three male Hispanics shot multiple times at people at the party, according to SAPD Case # 17-09360.
This shooting occurred between the Santa Ana River and Friendship Park, in Santa Ana’s Ward 5, which is represented by Councilman Juan Villegas. Continue reading
