On Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:09 P.M., the Santa Ana Police Department received multiple calls regarding a traffic collision at 3900 South Flower Street.

When the police officers arrived, they discovered the collision involved a vehicle and a traffic signal pole. The Costa Mesa Fire Department also responded to the scene, declaring the driver deceased.

Based upon the preliminary investigation, it is believed the vehicle was traveling north on Flower Street at Sunflower Avenue. As the vehicle crossed Sunflower Avenue at a high rate of speed, it collided with the traffic signal pole. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. 

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is investigating this incident.
