It turns out that Santa Ana Council Member Carlos Bustamante’s last hurrah was the 2nd Annual Santa Ana Independence Day event at Centennial Park, which was held last Sunday. He was arrested the very next day, after parking his car in a parking structure at City Hall, on charges of sex crimes and public theft.
One of the things that always bothered me about Bustamante was his overstated patriotism and gung ho attitude towards public safety. It always felt fake to me. He once compared himself to movie character Forrest Gump, a pretty dumb guy who made out over time by being in the right place at the right time. That is the story of Bustamante’s life. (Santa Ana, CA) – The City of Santa Ana has partnered with local Organizations such as: netz 4 Life, Latino Health Access and Northgate Markets in order to promote their 6th Annual 2012 Health & Fitness Fair at Centennial Park/ Godinez High School gymnasium. The event date will be Saturday the 19th of May, 2012 from 9am- 2pm. Over the past 6 years this event has become a celebration for local Community members, Organizations and leaders to establish the importance of being active, having fun, while endorsing the “I Work Out!” initiative, “Get Fit– Get Healthy!” This initiative has been introduced by netz 4 Life along with their “Leave No Rim Netless” Campaign and “Reaching Out- One Neighborhood at a Time” to inspire at-risk youth to become active leaders within their own community and continue to dream and believe that they too can make a difference. There is a Santa Ana Memorial Day Carnival scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Friday, May 27, and from 12 noon to 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, and from 12 noon through 10 pm on Monday, May 30, at Madison Park, located at 1528 S. Standard, in Santa Ana.
This is an annual event with rides, games and live music, and 30,000 attendees are expected.

The City of Santa Ana Earth & Health Fest at Centennial Park on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. is a free event for the entire community to enjoy!
The event will feature three Resource Fair Pavilions, designated as Community Building, Earth, and Health. The Community Building Pavilion will provide information of interest to Santa Ana residents and will recognize the accomplishments of Santa Ana’s residents and non-profit organizations through the 2011 Community Building Awards.
The Health Pavilion will feature a variety of resources to enhance health and fitness and active living as well as bicycling resources and nutrition information. The Earth Pavilion will include vendors providing information and resources to help residents learn about living green, such as energy conservation, community gardens, water-wise landscaping, and recycling.
