An unidentified man in his early 20s was shot and wounded Wednesday night in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

On 10/24/2017, at approximately 11:22 pm, officers responded to the scene of a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision in the 3600 block of West First Street (near Santa Anita Park). Officers located a 27-year old female pedestrian, Johanna Vargas, suffering from major head trauma as result of the collision. The Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and transported the victim to UCI medical center to be treated. The victim succumbs to her injuries at the hospital. Continue reading

The City of Santa Ana’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency is the proud recipient of the State of California Youth Soccer and Recreation Development Program’s grant. The City of Santa Ana was awarded $1 million for the renovation of the Santa Anita Park Field. Plans are in the works to secure $2.5 million in matching funds for the completion of the project in fiscal year 2018-19.
The California Youth Soccer and Recreation Development Program awards grants on a competitive basis to fund new sports opportunities in heavily populated, low-income urban areas. Newly received grant monies will go towards the replacement of the current natural turf field with the installation of a synthetic turf field at Santa Anita Park. Continue reading
Friday was another bloody day in Santa Ana as yet another shooting took place. This time a man in his 20’s was shot in the face, at the 3300 block of South Bristol St., according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was found at South Bristol St. and and West MacArthur Blvd. He ended up at a local hospital, in serious condition.
The police were not able to find any witnesses to the shooting but several people heard a gunshot and three males were seen running into a light-colored truck and speeding away going north on Bristol. Continue reading
Yet another gang shooting took place very early this morning, at around 12:30 a.m., at the 3400 block of West Chestnut Ave., in Santa Ana, just west of Santa Anita Park. The good news is that the SAPD have arrested two known gang members in the wake of the shooting, according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD was assisted by the O.C. Sheriff’s helicopter, “Duke” and it was Duke’s crew that spotted a suspect, who was later identified as Jesse Garcia Isais, 41-years-old, as he was walking away from the area of South Jackson Street and Pine Ave., one block away from the shooting at the Chestnut Ave. address.
