Firefighters knocked down a fire in a converted garage in Westminster

A resident asleep inside a converted garage on Reading Avenue in Westminster awoke to flames shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday morning and quickly evacuated, according to the OCFA.

Firefighter paramedics assessed the resident for injuries due to the narrow escape from the fire; however, the resident declined transportation to the hospital.

The firefighters knocked down the fire in just 20 minutes and prevented it from spreading to the adjacent structures.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Fountain Valley Fire Department provided assistance.
