A teenager was hurt by a hit and run driver near Pacific Electric Park

A teenager was injured when he was struck by a pickup truck on Monday, August 10, at about 8:10 p.m. near Orange and McFadden Avenues, in Santa Ana, according to the SAPD.

It is expected that the victim will recover. The victim appears to be about 16 years old. The SAPD did not identify the victim by name.

The driver of the light-blue Chevrolet pickup truck that hit the teen did not stay at the scene. The SAPD is considering this a hit and run incident.

This incident happened at the southwest corner of Pacific Electric Park.

The SAPD busted another huge illegal marijuana grow operation

SAPD Vice detectives with the assistance of Directed Patrol served a search warrant at the 900 block of S. Orange. , according to an SAPD Tweet. The location was a residence located about five blocks north of Pacific Electric Park.

Located inside was fully operational marijuana grow with 4 grow rooms and 1 drying room. The SAPD seized:

  • 557 marijuana plants
  • 34 grow lights & ballasts
  • 4 carbon filters
  • 3 dehumidifiers

The SAPD did not identify if anyone was arrested.

A man was shot in the leg near Lathrop Intermediate School yesterday afternoon

We reported yesterday afternoon on our Facebook page that the SAPD had closed part of Main St. Now we know what happened. Apparently a man was shot in one of his legs on Monday afternoon, at an auto detailing center, according to the O.C. Register.

The shooting happened about 3:20 p.m. at 1117 S. Main St., according to the SAPD. That is at W. McFadden, close to Lathrop Intermediate School and just west of the Pacific Electric Park.

The victim was not identified. He was treated at a local hospital for a wound deemed to be non-life-threatening.

The victim seems to have not cooperated with the SAPD.

Santa Ana’s new Pacific Electric Park’s groundbreaking set for April 15

Community: Pacific Electric Park Groundbreaking Ceremony / Ceremonia de Pre-Construcción del Parque Pacific Electric

The dream of a new park in our city will soon become a reality. The public is invited to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Pacific Electric Park located on the corner of S. Orange Ave. and E. McFadden Ave. The ceremony will take place Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the park site.

This new park project was made possible thanks to the efforts of the Pacific Electric Park Project Collaborative (PEPPC), a resident driven park initiative that formed in December 2009. The PEPPC is focused on a proactive plan addressing health issues in our community, educating and creating awareness of the consequences of obesity and other serious diseases like diabetes. The collaborative is made up of residents from Wilshire Square, Madison Park, Eastside and Heninger Park neighborhoods, as well as nonprofit organizations, schools and local churches. The collaborative has been working on the development of the Pacific Electric Park (PEP) in an effort to provide a green recreational area for children, seniors and our families in this park poor area of our community. Build it and they will come…creating the Pacific Electric Park

The City of Santa Ana has partnered with a community coalition to make a dream come true for the residents that live around McFadden and Orange. Residents from Eastside, Madison Park, Wilshire and members of the Saint Anne’s Orange County Congregation Community Organization (OCCCO) Committee are working to build a new park on a 1.4 acre open space site owned by the City and immediately next to the beautiful Pacific Electric Bike Trail.

The coalition has named this potential park site, to honor the history of the area, the Pacific Electric Park site. Other organizations involved in the planning of this effort are the Grain Project, Taller San Jose, Casa Guanajato, and the University of California, Irvine’s Community Outreach Partnership Center.
