Rabbi Reuven Mintz Receives Fairhaven Memorial Park’s Oliver Halsell Care Award

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 16, 2015 – For Newport Beach resident Rabbi Reuven Mintz, serving others is not just about providing a service to the community – it’s a personal calling. The director of the Chabad Jewish Center in Newport Beach, a leader of The Friendship Circle, and volunteer at Pastoral Care Services at Hoag Hospital, Rabbi Mintz wears many different hats, and his passions lie in making the lives and well being of others a priority during times of need. He also is known for protecting and guiding the lives of others, and offers solace to those whose lives come to an unfortunate end.

Rabbi Mintz is the July/August recipient of Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award. Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary, with locations in Santa Ana and Mission Viejo, created the recognition program in 2012 to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional care in their profession and community, improving the lives and spirits of those they help. Fairhaven 2015 Memorial Day event

“Celebrate Freedom”: Fairhaven Memorial Park’s 23rd Annual Memorial Day Service set for May 25

More than 3,500 Orange County residents are expected to “Celebrate Freedom” with Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary at its 23rd Annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. Attendees will enjoy inspiring speeches by military veterans, a “Parade of Flags” by The Tustin Young Marines, the Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and music by the Orange County Concert Band and the Tustin Community Choir. The event will begin with a special performance of the National Anthem by the “Star Spangled Singer” contest winner and conclude with an aerial fly-over of World War II-era planes by Memorial Flights.

This celebration of patriotism will also feature an antique cars display, “America’s Wars” life-sized photo essay and more. Complimentary hot dogs and refreshments will be served. Continue reading→

On March 15, Jason E. “Hoss” Hallstrom and Travis Mock, 29, were being chased by SAPD SWAT officers on I-5 when they got off at Grand Avenue and headed north, Santa Ana authorities said.  The officers in question ended up shooting Hallstrom to death, and wounding Mock. Continue reading→

FAIRHAVEN BECOMES FIRST MEMORIAL PARK TO PARTICIPATE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SPRING GARDEN SHOW

SANTA ANA, Calif. – April 30, 2013 – Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary became the first memorial park to participate in the historic Southern California Spring Garden Show at South Coast Plaza. To honor the show’s 2013 theme “The Garden as Art,” Fairhaven’s entry is a tribute to Andrew Marvell’s famous 17th Century poem Thoughts in a Garden.

“We selected this work based on its use of the garden as a metaphor for life in all of its depth and complexity,” said Fairhaven Grounds Manager and project designer Jay Rodriguez. “Our goal for this display was to enable viewers to experience life’s many emotions, including peace, conflict, love and loss.” Continue reading→
