The technical aspects of the Santa Ana City Council’s political process will be presented by Maria Huizar, the Clerk of the Santa Ana City Council. Huizar will discuss the intriguing history of why we elect our local Santa Ana City Council representatives with a city-wide vote and she will also explain the term limit rules that Santa Ana currently has in place. West End Community Oriented Policing to present Community Policing Forum for Santa Ana residents in South East District
Connect to Council is hosting a 2016 Primary Election Candidates Forum at Santa Ana College on Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The first panel will feature 1st District Orange County Board of Supervisor candidates and the second panel will include
the 46th District U.S. Congressional Representative candidates.

West End Community Oriented Policing to present third Community Policing Forum for Santa Ana residents in North East District
Santa Ana, CA, – West End Community Oriented Policing, along with Connect-to-Council, will present the third Community Policing forum for the residents of Santa Ana. This forum will offer residents the opportunity to provide their input and assist in creating a community policing plan for Santa Ana. At the previous forums in January and February, some participants suggested that SAPD should build stronger partnerships with the community and faith-based organizations. Other suggestions are being solicited and the public is invited to share input. There are two more forums scheduled for the remaining policing districts (North East, and South East) in Santa Ana. Connect to Council is inviting the residents living within the South Coast Metro Neighborhoods of Santa Ana to a joint meeting. on Oct. 2, 2013, at 7 pm, at the Segerstrom High School Auditorium, located at 2301 W MacArthur Blvd., in Santa Ana.
This meeting will include residents from the nine neighborhoods in the South Coast Metro area that includes Morning Sunwood, Thornton Park, Sandpointe, Sunwood Central, Metro Classic, Rosewood Baker, South Coast, Republic Homes and Summerfield Homes. This is the first annual meeting for the Alliance of South Coast Area Neighborhoods.
Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides, who was badly defeated when he ran for Mayor of Santa Ana last year, will be the guest speaker. He represents some of these neighborhoods. Others are represented by Councilmen Vince Sarmiento and Sal Tinajero.

Santa Ana mayoral candidate George Collins is best known in town for one thing – he always brings a video camera along, wherever he goes. He brought his camera early in September to the Connect to Council Santa Ana Council Candidates Forum.
The footage of the Council candidates was marred by poor sound, which was the fault of the event organizers and the facility, not Collins, but his mayoral candidate footage came out pretty sharp. You can see it atop this post. Continue reading
