Endorsement from Former California Assembly Speaker & Congresswoman Adds Fuel to Correa’s Momentum Surge in his Congressional Bid
SANTA ANA, CA— Driving new momentum into his campaign to represent California’s 46th Congressional District seat, today former State Senator Lou Correa received a sought-after endorsement from Congresswoman Karen Bass.
Prior to her time in Congress, Bass served as California’s Assembly Speaker. In Congress, Bass represents the state’s 37th District and serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affiars where she’s the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations. She also serves on the Steering and Policy Committee which sets the policy direction of the House’s Democratic Caucus.
Congresswoman Karen Bass announced her support of former Senator Lou Correa by releasing the following statement:
“Unlike any other state in the nation, California has been a real leader when it comes to creating new 21st century jobs, safeguarding workers’ rights, expanding equality for women and men, promoting a clean energy agenda, and advancing immigrant rights policies. In the State Legislature, Lou Correa built up an extensive resume of working on these important issues and many more. He’s highly qualified and well-equipped to serve in Congress. Lou Correa has my full support.”
Illustrating his dominance in the race for the 46th District, former State Senator Lou Correa has recently been lining up key support, rolling out the following wave of endorsements:
- Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair and Congresswoman Linda Sánchez
- California’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson
- California State Treasurer John Chiang
- Building Our Leadership Diversity (BOLD) PAC
Correa served in the California State Senate, representing the 34th District, from 2006- 2014 and served the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
