SANTA ANA – A man was convicted today of hit and run and manslaughter for killing three teens on Halloween night. Jaquinn Ramone Bell, 32, Orange, pleaded guilty today to three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, one felony count of hit and run with permanent injury or death, one misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended license, and sentencing enhancement allegations for fleeing the scene of a crime after committing vehicular manslaughter. He faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and eight months in state prison at his sentencing May 21, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
When Bell was first charged on Nov. 4, 2014, he was also facing sentencing enhancement allegations for personally inflicting great bodily injury and a maximum sentence of 17 years in state prison. In February 2015, the California Supreme Court ruled that a great bodily injury enhancement could not attach to any manslaughter charge under any circumstance. As a result, an amended complaint was filed today, March 20, 2015, excluding the sentencing enhancement allegation for personally inflicting great bodily injury. Continue reading→

On October 31, 2014, our City was stricken with grief and tragedy when three beautiful teenage girls, Andrea Gonzalez, Lexandra and Lexi Perez were struck and killed by a speeding motorist.
Our citizens and police personnel came together to help us deal with this tragedy and start the healing process. Authorities say three teenage girls have died after being struck in a suspected hit-and-run crash in Orange County, according to CBS. Two of the girls were twins and the third was a friend of theirs. The vehicle was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when the crash occurred, according to NBC.
The accident happened about 6:45 p.m. 1400 block of East Fairhaven, near the intersection of North Jacaranda Street and Fairhaven Avenue, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said, according to the OC Register.
The children were hit by Fairhaven Elementary School not far from Fairhaven Apartment Homes.
This sort of thing never used to happen in North Santa Ana. But already this year we have reported to drive by shootings in the area – and now this. Continue reading→

No Tricks, Just Treats at the Food Truck Fare Halloween Foodtacular at the OC Fair & Event Center
Costa Mesa, Calif. (October 16, 2013) – For the second year, the OC Fair & Event Center is turning its regular, weekly Food Truck Fare Wednesday (After Dark) into the Halloween Foodtacular on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 with the regular round-up of gourmet food truck fare, a DJ playing ghoulish grooves, a cash bar with “spirits” for adults 21+ and trick-or-treating truck to truck for kids.
