Community: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate the Newly Renovated Soccer Fields of the Dan Young Soccer Complex

SANTA ANA, CA – The City of Santa Ana invites you to the Dan Young Soccer Complex (DYSC) Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the newly renovated synthetic soccer fields.

The DYSC Youth Field #4 is the City’s first synthetic turf youth soccer field exclusively dedicated for youth soccer. Due to heavy use, weathering and expiration of the turf service life, the field surface needed to be replaced. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency (PRCSA) identified funding in fiscal year 2015/16 from Park Acquisition and Development Funds, Park In-Lieu Funds, Strategic Plan Funds and Budget Surplus Funds to replace the synthetic turf on Field #4. Similar funding was identified the following year in fiscal year 2016/17 to also replace the synthetic turf on Adult Field #2. The project included the removal and disposal of the existing synthetic turf, inspection of the existing drainage system, and preparation and installation of the new synthetic turf.

The fields were completed in September 2016 and are now re-opened for community use. Local youth soccer organizations such as the Santa Ana Futbol Club, Team 90 League, Azteca Youth Soccer League, Club America Academy, Olympic Youth Soccer League, Best Soccer League and Academy, California Youth Soccer League, American Youth Soccer Organization Region 517, and the Santa Ana Soccer Development currently use Youth Field #4. Local adult soccer organizations such as the Golden Star Soccer League, Veteranos Soccer League, United Latin Soccer League and the InterAmerican Sports Association currently use Adult Field #2.

Local residents, adult and youth soccer organizations and the general public are invited to join us in celebrating these newly renovated fields available to the community. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information, please visit www.santa-ana.org or contact the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department at (714) 571-4254.
