The CHP arrested 308 DUI suspects during their Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period

The CHP was super busy this Christmas, keeping us safe while busting drunk drivers as they undertook a Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period.

Over a focused two-day period, from December 24 at 6:01 PM to December 25 at 11:59 PM, the California Highway Patrol worked tirelessly to ensure everyone made it safely to their holiday destinations. Here are the results of the Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP):

  • DUI Enforcement: 308 DUI arrests statewide, taking impaired drivers off the roads to protect all travelers.
  • Citations Issued: A total of 3,835 citations, including speeding, seatbelt violations, and other traffic infractions.
  • Enforcement Actions: 7,622 enforcement actions, highlighting the CHP’s commitment to road safety during the holidays.

The holidays should be a time of celebration, not tragedy. Let’s continue to prioritize safety and responsibility on the road.
