ANAHEIM, Calif.– Police Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was shot and killed in a liquor store parking lot, according to the Anaheim Police Dept.

On Friday, May 24, 2024, at 7 p.m., Anaheim Police Dispatch received a report of a shooting on the 900 block of S. Anaheim Blvd.

Anaheim Police Officers and personnel from Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and located a 38-year-old Anaheim man, Jesse Barragan, unresponsive in a liquor store parking lot.

Barragan was suffering from at least one (1) gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting was gang-related and are not disclosing any additional details at this time because the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about Barragan or the circumstances surrounding his death to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-321-3669 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.

Barragan left behind five children according to a GoFundMe page started to help them pay for funeral costs.
