On Thursday, April 25, 2024, at approximately 9:05 PM, police officers were dispatched to the area of W. Orangethorpe Ave. and Campus Dr. regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist, according to the Fullerton Police Dept.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male bicyclist in the roadway with traumatic injuries and a black Dodge Journey in proximity. The driver of the Dodge, a 19-year-old resident of Buena Park, remained at the scene of the collision. Fullerton Fire responded and pronounced the male adult bicyclist deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Dodge was traveling eastbound Orangethorpe Ave. in the number one lane from Auto Center Dr. at an unknown speed. The bicyclist was traveling in an unknown direction on Orangethorpe Ave. in the eastbound number one lane west of Campus Dr. when the bicyclist was struck by the Dodge Journey.

The identity of the deceased bicyclist will be released by the Orange County Coroner upon notification of the next of kin.

At this time, Accident Investigators do not suspect there to be any other vehicles involved and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the cause of the collision.

Accident Investigators are seeking further information from anyone who might have witnessed this collision.
