On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at approximately 7:29 P.M., the Santa Ana Police Department received multiple calls regarding a major traffic collision at 800 South Bristol Street. When officers arrived, they discovered the collision involved three vehicles (a sedan and two SUVs).

Orange County Fire Authority also responded to the scene, declaring the passenger in the sedan deceased. The driver of the sedan was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Occupants from the two SUVs were also transported to area hospitals and treated for minor injuries.

Based upon the preliminary investigation, it is believed the sedan was traveling north on Bristol St., making a left turn onto westbound Tolliver St. as the two SUVs were traveling south on Bristol St. behind one another. As the sedan made the left turn, the first SUV collided with the sedan, causing the second SUV to collide with the lead SUV. Both drivers of the SUVs remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. D. Carrillo at (714) 245-8208 or the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division at (714) 245-8200.
