ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 26, 2024) – Police Detectives are investigating a murder-suicide after responding to a shooting at an apartment complex, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

On April 25, 2024, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Anaheim Police and Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel responded to an apartment complex located at 891 S. State College Blvd. regarding a shooting that just occurred.

Upon Officers’ arrival, they located the victim, 59-year-old Ana Monterrosa of Anaheim, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Monterrosa was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.

Patrol, Investigations, and SWAT personnel responded and determined the suspect, 67-year-old Brian Lawrence, was responsible for killing Monterrosa, resided at the apartment complex, and returned to his apartment after the shooting. At approximately 9:30 p.m., SWAT Officers entered Lawrence’s apartment and found him inside, deceased. Lawrence’s death is an apparent suicide.

No suspects are outstanding. Detectives are not disclosing any additional details at this time because the investigation is ongoing.
