Advisory: Police investigate KKK propaganda left in neighborhood

Santa Ana police officers respond to a resident who reported he found a small zip-loc baggy containing a rock, a candy, a flyer, and a KKK business card on his driveway this morning in the 2600 block of N Linwood St in Santa Ana.

The flyer contains anti-MLK propaganda. Approximately 40 similar bags were distributed sometime during the evening to various residences within a four block radius. No specific threat was noted on the business card and no crime can be established at this point.

Officers have collected numerous bags and there will be an investigation.

  1. STATEMENT BY CITY COUNCILWOMAN MICHELE MARTINEZ

“The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday has long been a symbol of peace for the civil rights movement and equality. As a councilmember of one of Orange County’s largest and most diverse cities, I was deeply disturbed to learn that early yesterday morning, on the day this holiday is observed, small bags filled with racist paraphernalia were distributed to around 40 homes in the City of Santa Ana. While I support freedom of speech and equality, I do not condone intolerance and denounce any behavior that attempts to divide our community through racism.”

  2. The Ku Klux Klan opens its door to Jews, gays, blacks and Hispanics in bizarre recruitment drive. White supremacist group Ku Klux Klan is re-branding as “the new Klan.”

Rebranded ‘Rocky Mountain Knights’ claim to stand for ‘a strong America.” New recruits will have to wear the white robes, masks and those comical hats.

  3. This looks like an interesting documentary on the rise of the North Carolina KKK.

    Klansville U.S.A.

Having been dormant for decades, the Ku Klux Klan reemerged in the U.S. after the 1954 Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education decision, gaining momentum in the U.S. as the civil rights movement grew. That the Klan would rise once again wasn’t surprising, but where the reincarnation took place was. North Carolina was long considered the most progressive southern state; its image was being burnished weekly on CBS by the enormously popular “The Andy Griffith Show.” In 1963, North Carolina salesman Bob Jones chartered what would become the largest Klan group in the country, which, under his leadership, grew to some ten thousand members. In the process, the group helped give the Tarheel State a new nickname: “Klansville, U.S.A.”
