On Saturday, June 22, 2024, at approximately 2:12 p.m., Anaheim Police Officers responded to the 800 block of N. Harbor Blvd. after multiple people called regarding a naked man who was acting strangely.

Upon Officers’ arrival, they located a 26-year-old man and detained him without incident. The man, whose identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, was completely nude, was acting erratically, and exhibited signs and symptoms of being under the influence of drugs.

Officers placed the man under arrest for being nude in public and for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Prior to booking the man into the Anaheim Police Department’s Detention Facility, Officers transported him to a hospital to be medically cleared. While driving to the hospital, Officers noticed that he was in medical distress. Officers immediately stopped, rendered medical aid, administered Narcan, and requested Anaheim Fire & Rescue to respond to their location.

The man was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he died approximately 16 hours later.

Investigators from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office responded to investigate the incident and were assisted by Anaheim PD Homicide Detectives. Anaheim PD’s Major Incident Review Team (MIRT) and Internal Affairs will conduct concurrent administrative investigations.
