The OC Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division advises the public against consuming food and beverages made or sold by street food vendors that do not possess a valid health permit.

Mobile food facilities and street vendors that operate with a health permit are expected to follow food safety laws and are subject to routine health inspections by Environmental Health. These vendors will have an identifying sticker issued by the County of Orange on the vehicle or cart, and can provide proof of permit or health inspection from Environmental Health.

Street food vending operated by food operators that do not possess a health permit pose a serious public health risk to residents and visitors in Orange County. Such vendors often possess unsafe makeshift equipment, do not follow proper food safety and handwashing practices, and utilize unverified food sources, storage, and handling. Environmental Health has received multiple foodborne illness complaints attributed to street food operations that do not have a health permit.

La Agencia del Cuidado de la Salud del Condado de Orange Advierte a Residentes y Visitantes Tener Cuidado con las Enfermedades Transmitidas por los Alimentos

(Santa Ana, CA) – La División de Salud Ambiental de la Agencia del Cuidado de la Salud del Condado de Orange aconseja al público que no consuma alimentos y bebidas elaborados o vendidos por vendedores ambulantes de comida que no tengan un permiso de salubridad válido.

Se espera que los locales móviles de comida y los vendedores ambulantes que operan con un permiso de salud sigan las leyes de seguridad de alimentos y estén sujetos a inspecciones de salud de rutina por parte de Salud Ambiental. Estos vendedores tendrán una etiqueta de identificación emitida por el Condado de Orange en el vehículo o carro, y pueden proporcionar una prueba de permiso o inspección de salubridad de Salud Ambiental.

La venta de alimentos en la calle operada por vendedores de comida que no poseen un permiso de salud representa un grave riesgo para la salud pública de los residentes y visitantes del Condado de Orange. Estos vendedores suelen disponer de equipos improvisados e inseguros, no siguen las prácticas adecuadas de seguridad de alimentos y lavado de manos, y utilizan productos alimenticios no verificados en su origen, almacenamiento y manejo. Salud Ambiental ha recibido múltiples quejas por enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos atribuidas a la venta de comida en la calle que no tienen un permiso de salud.
