Santa Ana Council Members Michele Martinez and David Benavides are going to host a community forum on Thursday, July 28, from 6 pm to 8 pm, at the Southwest Senior Citizen Center, located at 2201 W. McFadden Ave., in Santa Ana.

Santa Ana city officials are looking to residents to help identify the most significant issues the city is facing and the type of person who would make the best city manager.

Community members are being questioned the qualities they are seeking in a good city manager. Those responding to the City of Santa Ana’s survey are being asked to describe the most pressing issue the city is facing and the leadership traits they would want in a person who serves as the city’s top staff person. Additional comments may also be submitted.

The city has been conducting a city manager search since Dave Ream retired from the position in May of 2011.

  1. admin, what power does a city manager have? What decisions does the manager have that are not supposed to be approved by a city council? Who has more authority? a Manager or a Mayor?

    1. Our Mayor is part time and has one vote. City Managers can hire and fire city staff. They tend to stay in office for years. Pulido has to keep running every two years.

  2. According to the Voice of OC the search for a new City Manager has been suspended and confirmed by Claudia Alvarez.

    1. This was Jill Arthur’s last power play and now it is an epic fail. I expect the Council to restart the search process.

  3. That was funny. You said “Pulido has to keep running every two years” Is that what he has to do?
