On Sunday, December 13, 2020, at approximately 2:10 PM, the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) received multiple calls of a vehicle-pedestrian traffic collision in the area of Main Street and Alton Avenue. Patrol officers responded to the scene and found an adult female down in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded to the scene and treated the female. The female was transported by CARE Ambulance to University of California, Irvine (UCI) Medical Center for further treatment. At 9:33 PM, the female was pronounced deceased by UCI Medical Center personnel.

The preliminary investigation revealed the female pedestrian was crossing Main Street, north of the intersection of Alton Avenue. The involved vehicle was traveling west on Alton Avenue and turned north onto Main Street before striking the female pedestrian. The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have played a role in this collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is now handling the investigation.
