The SAPD had their hands full on Friday night, Dec. 8, when they arrested Leoncio Gutierrez, a suspect thought to be on drugs who was driving on the wrong side of the road when he ran a red light and crashed into two cars – all while he was fleeing from the police, according to the O.C. Register.

The pursuit happened as the SAPD was responding to a commercial burglary on South Lyon St. A witness had reported seeing 80 suspects breaking into a building. Apparently there was a rave going on nearby.

When the police arrived at 10:27 p.m. they found many suspects inside the business in question. All of the suspects, including Gutierrez tried to get away from the police, either on foot or in their cars.

While most of the ravers got away the police were able to pursue Gutierrez, who crashed into a pickup truck and a sedan when he tried to run a red light with the police on this tail, according to the SAPD.

Gutierrez had two juvenile female passengers who stayed in the damaged car as both were injured. One of them was badly injured. Gutierrez and the drives of the other two vehicles were not injured.

Gutierrez was booked into the Santa Ana Detention Facility after he was arrested.

Neither Gutierrez nor the drivers of the other two vehicles were injured, according to police.

The police did not reveal any specific information about the commercial building. They suspected Gutierrez was driving under the influence of a drug that was not identified.
