Care Award Pays Tribute to Local Caregivers
MISSION VIEJO, Calif., November 17, 2014 – Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary honored 10 inspirational caregivers at its third annual Oliver Halsell Care Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at its Mission Viejo location. The individuals – from throughout Orange County – were recognized for dedicating their lives to serving with the utmost care and compassion and improving the lives and spirits of those they help.
Honorees, joined by their family and friends, enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as they mingled before dinner. Each Care Award winner was presented a crystal statue by Marla Noel, president of Fairhaven, and Michael Alarcon, manager of Fairhaven Memorial Services, during a special program. Fairhaven Memorial Park to Host Third Annual Dia de los Muertos Celebration
Hundreds gather at free event on Sunday, Nov. 2 to remember friends and family members
Orange County residents will gather at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary for its annual Dia de los Muertos celebration, a family-friendly event to honor the lives of those who have passed. A vibrant memorial service, featuring a traditional offertory, music and art, will be held to pray for and remember the lives of friends and family members. Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo of their loved ones to place at the colorful altars. Complimentary pan de muerto and chocolate will be provided by El Indio Tortilleria, Inc.
Believed to be one of the few days a year when loved ones who have passed return to visit, Dia de los Muertos – also known as Day of the Dead – is celebrated annually on Nov. 2. Traditionally, loved ones create altars that include food, flowers, photos and articles that belonged to, or had special meaning, to the deceased. Continue reading

Clear Choice Senior Services President Honored With Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award
Anaheim resident Linda Armas recognized for assisting families in finding care for seniors
ANAHEIM, Calif., June 16, 2014 – After her parents grew ill, Anaheim resident Linda Armas was faced with the challenging task of finding them a safe and comfortable environment. A mother of five, Armas is part of what is known as “the sandwich generation” – individuals who care for their aging parents while still supporting young children at home. This experience inspired her to start her own business, Clear Choice Senior Services, where she helps families place their elderly loved ones in a safe environment.
Armas is the June recipient of Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award. Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary, with locations in Santa Ana and Mission Viejo, created the recognition program in 2012 to pay monthly tribute to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional care in their profession and community, improving the lives and spirits of those they help. ETERNAL SPRINGS CREMATION GARDEN OPENS AT FAIRHAVEN MEMORIAL PARK
New cremation garden offers a tranquil atmosphere for families to honor loved ones
SANTA ANA, Calif., – Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary announces the completion of Eternal Springs, a 3,800-square-foot cremation garden located on the north side of the memorial park. The project, which began in Sept. 2013, provides a serene and private atmosphere for families to visit their loved ones. The peaceful garden offers numerous cremation niches as well as a flowing stream, rustic bridges and beautiful landscaping.
“Keeping cherished memories close is so important to families who have lost loved ones, and we hope this new garden will help families to remember lovingly and find comfort during difficult times,” said Marla Noel, president of Fairhaven Memorial Park. “Since more individuals are choosing cremation, Eternal Springs provides our families with a peaceful place to find a lasting memorial for their loved ones.”
