A body was run over by several cars on the 5 Freeway in Santa Ana early this morning

A person was found dead after being run over several times early Monday morning on the 5 Freeway in Santa Ana, according to the L.A. Times.

The CHP started getting calls at about 1.am. after at least one driver reported that they had run over something that might have been a body, on the northbound 5 Freeway at the 22 Freeway, adjacent to William Elridge Park, just north of the MainPlace Mall, the Discovery Cube and the Santiago Creek – where dozens of homeless people camp out illegally.

The CHP later confirmed that the body was in the No. 2 lane and it was struck by several vehicles.

There were also unconfirmed reports that the victim had jumped from the 22 Freeway onto the 5.

The Orange Police Department said it had been in contact with the person, who had been walking the streets of Orange not far from where the body was found.

The incident resulted in the closure several lanes of the 5 Freeway that were finally reopened at about 3:30 a.m.

Advisory: SAPD Collision Investigation Unit Handling Fatal Auto Vs Ped. Collision – 900 Block of W. 1st Street

Decedent: Mark Stephen Keller (40) Brea

On 12/23/2018 at approximately 5:53 a.m., Dispatchers received numerous calls regarding a vehicle that had struck a tree in the center median of 1st Street east of Flower Street. Subsequent callers reported that the vehicle occupants were walking away westbound on 1st Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located two males lying in the roadway of 1st Street west of Flower Street. One of the males had significant head trauma and was unconscious.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver and his passenger were fleeing the scene of the collision on foot. They crossed 1st Street southbound in the west crosswalk of Flower Street. While crossing 1st Street, both were struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of this vehicle remained at scene and cooperated with officers.

On 12/26/2018, at 5:26 p.m. the pedestrian (the person identified as driver in the initial collision) died as a result the injuries sustained in subsequent the traffic collision. The initial investigation has revealed the deceased pedestrian/driver was under the influence of a drug at the time of both collisions.

An unidentified man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Santa Ana last night

An unidentified approximately 50-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Santa Ana, as we reported on our Facebook page last night.

The SAPD responded to the scene of the accident at about 9:30 p.m., at the intersection of W. First and S. Baker Streets, in Santa Ana, a block East of S. Bristol St. They found that the victim had been struck by a vehicle.

The victim died from his wounds at a local hospital, according to the SAPD.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim cooperated with the police. He stayed and the scene of the accident.

The SAPD has not yet established if the victim was in a crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle or if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

One of our readers heard that the victim was a tamalero. That however has not been confirmed either.

Advisory: Traffic Alert: Victoria Street and Canyon Drive closed due to a fatal traffic collision

Today, Dec. 8, 2018, at about 12:26 a.m., officers and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue (CMFR) responded to the intersection of Victoria Street and Pacific Avenue regarding a fatal traffic collision.

A single Toyota SUV appeared to hit signal pole before the vehicle struck a wooden Edison pole and then continued westbound where it struck an iron fence. CMFR pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. No identifying information will be released on the driver at this time. MAIT responded to conduct the investigation.

At this time the street closure includes Victoria Street and Canyon Drive as SoCal Edison works in the area. It is advised that you avoid the area and use alternate routes until about 1:30 p.m. or until SoCal Edison completes their work.

SAPD Collision Investigation Unit Handling Fatal Auto Vs Ped. Collision – 1500 Block N. Main Street

Decedent: Female (31) San Jose, CA

Suspect: Geoffrey William Bicking (45) Buena Park

On Thursday, December 6th, 2018 at approximately 9:56 AM, the Santa Ana Police Department responded to the intersection of E. 15th and N. Main Street in regards to a reported traffic collision involving three vehicles and a pedestrian, a grey Chevy Malibu, white Ford Ranger and black Mercedes Benz. The female adult pedestrian was in her early 30’s.

Upon arrival, officers found all vehicles involved in the collision were in the middle of the intersection. The adult female was lying on the northwest corner of 15th and Main Street suffering from severe injuries. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded and treated all parties involved for their injuries. The adult female was transported to OC Global to be treated for her injuries. She suffered upper body trauma to her chest and head. She later succumb to to her injuries. The other parties involved in the collision declined the need for further medical attention. In case you are wondering what has been going on today on S. Grand Ave., it turns out that at approximately 2:20 a.m. this morning a car accident described as a “mass casualty incident” occurred at S. Grand and E. McFadden, according to the OC Fire Authority.

AdvisoryUpdate: Tustin Collision Investigation Unit Now Handling Fatal Collision -Red Hill Avenue and Dyer Road

On Friday, November 23rd, 2018 at approximately 9:41pm., the Santa Ana, Tustin and Irvine Police Departments responded to the area of Red Hill Avenue and Dyer Road because of a reported traffic collision. An Irvine Police Officer was in the immediate area and assisted by checking on the involved parties of both vehicles. He, along with other good Samaritans, were able to remove four occupants from an involved vehicle before it burst into flames.

Unfortunately, an elderly female in the back seat was pinned by the collision and died in the fire. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded and extinguished the vehicle fire and pronounced the female passenger deceased. The other four occupants of the vehicle, two adults and two juveniles, and the involved driver were transported to local hospitals with moderate to major injuries. A Santa Ana man was killed in a car accident in Fountain Valley

The Orange County Coroner’s Office has identified John Hillig of Santa Ana, a 67-year-old man, as the victim of a fatal car crash that happened in Fountain Valley on Nov. 11.

The crash was reported at about 12:12 p.m. Hillig was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser when he was involved in a minor collision near Edinger Ave., as he drove slowly going north on Harbor Blvd. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Traffic Investigators Arrest Suspect in Fatal Hit & Run Traffic Collision

On Friday, October 19, 2018 at approximately 5:25 a.m., the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) received a call of a pedestrian lying in the roadway in the middle lane of S. Bristol Street south of Central Street. As the reporting party was speaking to SAPD Dispatch, the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle, described as gray or tan in color, was last seen headed north on Bristol.

SAPD Officers arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, non-responsive in the #1 northbound lane of Bristol. Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. Continue reading→

A man who was walking on the 55 Fwy. this morning was struck by a car and killed

A pedestrian was struck and killed while walking on the 55 Freeway early Tuesday morning, while several motorists were injured in a pair of crashes, according to the O.C. Register.

The man was seen walking between the carpool and fast lanes of the northbound 55 Freeway at about 5:40 a.m. CHP officers responded but before they could arrive the man was struck by a Honda Accord. Continue reading→

An 18-year-old worker was killed in a workplace accident in Santa Ana on Thursday

Enrique Garcia-Vazques, an 18-year-old employee, died in a workplace accident at Aardvark Clay and Supplies, a clay products business in Santa Ana on Thursday, Sep. 20, at 11:15 a.m., according to the OCFA.

The victim was trapped in heavy equipment, possibly a mixer, at his workplace, located at the 1400 block of E Pomona, in Santa Ana. Continue reading→
