Q Art Salon Opens in Santa Ana Artist Village May 5
New Space Launches with The Knights Debut Group Show
[Santa Ana, CA] – Downtown Santa Ana is pleased to welcome its newest contemporary art gallery, Q Art Salon, to the Artist Village community. The space will open to the public on Saturday, May 5, during Santa Ana’s First Saturday Artwalk, with the group exhibit titled The Knights Debut featuring paintings by both emerging and established artists including Sean Cheetham, Alex Kanevsky, Marc Trujillo, and William Wray.
Q Art Salon is 2,500 square feet of open loft space divided into three levels, set in the heart of the Artist Village. Director of Q Art Salon, Jose Quant, is as a resident of Santa Ana and Director of Courbet Art Circle, an artist studio that has been operating in the Downtown Artist Village since 2006. Like neighboring gallerists, business owners, and residents, Quant hopes to see the local Artist District continue to grow and flourish. “We would love to have more contemporary work and established artists exhibit in the Downtown. The more galleries and artist spaces in the area, the more the Artist Village will continue to grow,” comments Quant. “Q Art Salon hopes to add to that community growth and energy.”
The Knights Debut will explore realism and figurative works by international artists of recognizable stature. Acclaimed figurative painter, Sean Cheethum is a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena with past exhibits at the National Portrait Gallery of London, the Mendenhall Sobieski Gallery in Pasadena, and most recently a show at Katherine Cone Gallery. Alex Kanevsky is a Russian born painter who has received numerous prestigious awards including the Pew Fellowship for painting. Kanevsky’s work has been seen in the LA Times, the New York Observer and New American Paintings. He is included in permanent collections at the San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts and de Young & Legion of Honor and has recently shown at Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco and J. Cacciola Gallery in New York. Los Angeles based painter, Marc Trujillo is a graduate of the Yale University School of Art where he received the Ely Harwood Schless Memorial Fund Prize as well as the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Trust Fellowship. His pieces depict urban and suburban landscapes and places omnipresent in America. His work was most recently shown in New York at Hirschl & Adler. William Wray studied at the Art Students League in New York. Making his living as a cartoonist specializing in painted subjects, he spent many years coalescing a eclectic array of art styles, ultimately finding his voice in a contemporized reflection of traditional California regional painting that focus on humble subject matter rarely considered as fine art.
The Knights Debut will open on Saturday, May 5 with a public reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Attendeeswill have the opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy complimentary refreshments. The exhibit will remain on display through June 3. Q Art Salon is located at 205 N. Sycamore Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701 and is open Wednesday through Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
