Advisory: PRESS RELEASE: MAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING TWO RANDOM VICTIMS WITHOUT PROVOCATION

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department arrested Jose Oscar Medina, 34, Costa Mesa, yesterday for stabbing two random male victims without provocation.

On March 27, 2017, at approximately 10:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to a stabbing at the 99 Cent Store on Harbor Boulevard. Officers found a 63-year-old male victim with two stab wounds in the lower mid-back of his body. John Doe was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for the non-life-threatening wounds and is now in stable condition.

Officers quickly located Medina and after a short chase around the shopping center, Medina was arrested without incident.

The night before, on March 26, 2017, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a stabbing at the 1800 block of Park Avenue. Officers found a 30-year-old male victim with two non-life-threatening stab wounds on his right arm and chest area. The suspect had fled the scene on a bicycle and could not be located.

During the investigation, officers connected Medina to the previous stabbing the night before. It was also determined that both victims were stabbed without provocation and did not know Medina.
