Five Santa Ana Police Department cruisers and a helicopter chased down a white SUV tonight, at approximately 11:30 pm. The SUV was abandoned on Spurgeon St., just south of Edgewood.

Police officers were overheard looking for a handgun and up to three suspects.

In the video above, a neighbor from Edgewood approached the police officers to say that when he came home tonight from walking his dog, his front door appeared to be unlocked and open. Police officers went to his home to check for suspects.

It did not appear that any suspects were apprehended but the investigation was just beginning.

SAPD chase SUV into the Park Santiago Neighborhood

The SUV knocked over several trash cans upon coming to a stop. The doors were left open and no one was in the car as the police began to search it.

The Park Santiago Neighborhood is in north Santa Ana. There are only a few entrances into this neighborhood. It abuts Santiago Park and is within walking distance of both the MainPlace Mall and the CityPlace Shopping Center.

  1. Must be a local, with all the blocked and restricted access roads, it would be easy for a stranger to get lost or stuck in that neighborhood.
