The City of Santa Ana is pleased to announce the nomination and unanimous endorsement of Police Chief David Valentin to serve as the President of the Orange County Chiefs’ of Police and Sheriff’s Association for 2022-23. First appointed as the Chief of the Santa Ana Police Department in 2017, Chief Valentin previously served as the Chief of Police for the Santa Ana Unified School District Police Department (2009-2013). He is engaged in several executive police forums in addressing contemporary policing issues with a focus on community policing, transparency and community collaborations.

Chief Valentin is a 31-year veteran of the Santa Ana Police Department, a graduate of the FBI National Academy, California Peace Officer and Standards Training Command College and the prestigious Harvard University Program for State and Local Government Leaders. Chief Valentin has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources; serves on the Board of Directors for the Santa Ana College Foundation and is a recipient of both the Santa Ana College Hall of Fame and the State of California League of Community Colleges Hall of Fame for sustained community engagement and career accomplishments.

I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with association members to better serve our communities and provide a constructive, positive framework for public safety in Orange County”, said Chief David Valentin.
