OC robbery crew who targeted the elderly arrested in San Bernardino County

On Thursday, December 5, 2024, at approximately 10:23 A.M., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a call for service reference an attempted robbery. Unknown suspect(s) attempted to snatch a necklace from the victim’s neck, entered an awaiting vehicle, and fled the scene. Good Samaritans assisted the victim, causing the suspects to flee the location.

Deputies arrived on scene, conducted an area check, and located the suspect vehicle near Foothill Boulevard and Milliken Avenue. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Maria Caldarau, Miheala Gardian, and Ovidiu Alexandri Stan, all residents of Fullerton.

During the investigation, it was learned the suspects approached an elderly female and attempted to steal her jewelry.

Deputies linked the suspects to three different theft cases involving elderly victims in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. Caldarau and Alexandri Stan were found to have out of county warrants for robbery, theft from elderly, and grand theft from a person. All three suspects were arrested and booked for PC 664/211- Attempted Robbery, PC 368(D)(1)- Theft Against an Elderly and PC 182(A)(1)- Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

Detectives beleive there may be additional victims and are releasing photos of the three suspects. Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have been victimized by these suspects is asked to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station at (909) 477-2800.
