Pacific Islands Family Festival at the Bowers

The Bowers Museum is hosting the free Pacific Islands Family Festival today, August 3, 2014, from 11 am to 4 pm.  This free event includes: face painting, art projects, and frozen tropical fruit bars tasting.

Here is the event schedule:

  • 12 pm – Manca Dancers perform Tahitian dancing and drumming
  • 1 pm – Hawaiian dance featuring Kahio Auana
  • 1:30 pm – Intermission
  • 2 pm – Dance of Samoa and the New Zealand Maori featuring Haka
  • 2:45 pm – Dance of the Marquesas and Aparimas

Free admission is included to and to the Bowers Museum permanent exhibitions, Kidseum and limited engagement exhibitions including, Heavenly Horses: 2,000 years of Chinese and Japanese Equine Art; Chuck Jones: Doodles of a Genius; The Lure of Chinatown: Painting California’s Chinese Communities, Sacred Realms: Temple Murals by Shashi Dhoj Tulachand; Spirits and Headhunters: Art of the Pacific Islands; California Legacies: Missions and Ranchos; Vision of the Shaman, Song of the Priest; California: The Golden Years; Ancient Arts of China, and Framed: Step into Art at Kidseum.

Free admission to Bowers Kidseum included. Kidseum hours: 10 AM – 4 PM.
