The City of Santa Ana, Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) and the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce are joining forces this week to host more than 1,000 students from nearly 100 U.S. colleges who are competing in the 2019 National Forensics Association Championship Tournament.
Historic Santa Ana High School, the first high school in Orange County, will serve as the main tournament site. About 50 feet away is Martin R. Heninger K-8 School, which will serve as the secondary tournament site. Both are located within walking distance of bustling Downtown Santa Ana, which offers an abundance of eateries, retail stores, lively culture and amazing art galleries.
Holding the tournament in the vibrant City of Santa Ana allows participants to compete at top-quality school facilities, while at the same time being in close proximity to local City attractions, including MainPlace Mall, the Santa Ana Zoo and Bowers Museum.
SAUSD is home to a flourishing, districtwide National Award Winning Speech and Debate program that engages more than 400 students in various grades, and was ignited by a partnership between SAUSD and Kiwanis of Santa Ana.
