Jose Enriquez, 26, of Buena Park was arrested after fatally striking a woman with his car on Saturday night. The Anaheim Police later arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The crash occurred just after 6:20 p.m. on Saturday night at Brookhurst Street north of Ball Road, according to the Anaheim Police.

Paramedics rushed the critically injured pedestrian to a local hospital, where she later died. The Anaheim Police Department has not yet released her name.

Enriquez, who was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck the woman, did not flee from the scene. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the Anaheim Police.

The Anaheim Police shut down Brookhurst Street in both directions between Ball Road and Orange Avenue for several hours while their officers investigated the crash.

  1. He was not under the influence. No one talks about what really happens. When the pedestrian WAS HIGHLY INTOXICATED and jumped in the middle of the street.. SMH.
