April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Orange County residents are encouraged to wear blue on April 24th & use #GoBlueForOCKids on social media
Orange County, CA – The County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) invites the citizens of Orange County to show their support of ending childhood abuse and neglect by wearing blue on April 24, 2018 for National Child Abuse Prevention Month. In addition, residents are encouraged to take photos of themselves, their friends, their coworkers and their loved ones while wearing blue and tag their photos using the hashtag #GoBlueForOCKids on social media.
Members of the Orange County Board of Supervisors will also be presenting a proclamation for National Child Abuse Prevention Month at the Board meeting on April 24th and will be encouraging their constituents to speak up if they see child abuse or neglect. Continue reading

ORANGE COUNTY CLERK-RECORDER LAUNCHES PILOT PROGRAM TO HELP EXPEDITE THE ORDERING OF MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES
(Santa Ana, Calif.) — Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen is launching a pilot program that will allow couples to pre-pay for their marriage certificates upon completion of their marriage ceremony. This program will only be implemented at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana and will only apply to couples who have a ceremony performed by one of the department’s deputy commissioners of marriage on site.
The program’s goals are to help eliminate confusion as to when a couple’s marriage certificate is available for purchase, eliminate the need for couples to return to the office to purchase their certificate or request it via mail, reduce the number of phone calls to the department’s information line and help shorten lines at the department offices. It will also help eliminate the need for couples to mail in a notarized application. Continue reading

In honor of International Women’s Month, the Santa Ana Public Library is proud to present local author Sarah Rafael Garcia and her book SanTana’s Fairy Tales on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm. Garcia will share an art-talk about her childhood hometown, Santa Ana, as an inspiration for these modern-day fairy tales.
There will be musical accompaniment by artist Ruby Castellanos. After the talk and readings from the book, there will be a Q&A with the author and a book signing. This free event will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will include the annual tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment, including mariachi and folklórico dancing, piñatas for children, and, of course, a special visit from Santa Claus!
