An unidentified woman in her late 50’s lost her life today as she was crossing the street at an unmarked crosswalk at the 4000 block of West McFadden Ave., according to the O.C. Register.

The woman was struck by a vehicle traveling east on W. McFadden just before 5:10 p.m.

She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim remained at the accident scene and was talking with SAPD police detectives.

Police investigators do not believe that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It is not known yet if speed or weather were involved.

The woman’s name has not been released by the SAPD, as relatives have to be notified.

The eastbound lanes of McFadden Avenue near Dennis Street were briefly closed due to the accident.
