Four Santa Ana Planning Commissioners have terms that are expiring this December. And we have three new City Council members getting sworn in at the same time. Now is our best opportunity to seat Planning Commissioners that will stand up to crooked apartment developers who are aiming to overdevelop our City of Santa Ana.
Here are the Planning Commissioners whose terms are set to expire in December:
- Beatriz Mendoza, represents Ward 6
- Roman Reyna, represents Ward 4 (now a new City Councilman)
- Lynette Verino, represents Ward 2
- Mark McLaughlin, represents Mayor Miguel Pulido
Here are the City Council Members who will be making Planning Commission appointments:
- Cecilia Iglesias, Ward 6
- Roman Reyna, Ward 4
- David Penaloza, Ward 2
- Mayor Miguel Pulido
Needless to say Reyna is a lost cause. He is owned by the apartment developers. But I think that the other Council Members will be open to appointing Planning Commissioners who will put our residents first.
Now is the time to start contacting your City Council Members so you can encourage them to make intelligent choices when appointing our new Planning Commissioners. I have embedded their Facebook and City Council pages above. The new City Council members will be sworn in on Dec. 11 so don’t delay!
