On March 27, 2024, at approximately 12:40 PM, police officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of W. Malvern Ave. regarding a carjacking that just occurred, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

FPD Officers responded and contacted the elderly victim, who stated two males pushed her out of her SUV and fled the area in her stolen vehicle. Responding officers conducted an area check and located the victim’s vehicle within nine minutes in the area of Brookhurst Rd. and Roberta Ave.

Officers attempted a traffic stop and ultimately used a PIT maneuver, also known as a pursuit intervention technique, to disable the vehicle that attempted to flee. Out of an abundance of caution, Orangethorpe Elementary was placed on a brief fifteen-minute lockdown due to the close proximity of the activity.

One male adult and one male juvenile were taken into custody without further incident and booked on charges including carjacking, elder abuse, conspiracy, and felony evading.
