On Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 3:15 PM, Santa Ana Police Communications received a report of a male bleeding from an apparent stab wound to his torso in the 2000 block of W. Chestnut Avenue, according to the SAPD.

The victim, later identified by the Orange County Coroner’s Office as Rodolfo Rosell (44), was transported by an acquaintance to a nearby fire station, where he was pronounced deceased by Orange County Fire Authority.

Detectives with the Homicide Section assumed the investigation and identified the suspect as John Danny Tamallo Flores (35) of Santa Ana.

On February 17, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, Flores was located and arrested in the area of 2300 N. Grand Avenue by SAPD Officers. He was subsequently booked at the Santa Ana Jail for PC 187(a) – Murder.
