We reported yesterday that Santa Ana Mayor Vicente Sarmiento’s sister and her husband are suing the City of Santa Ana on behalf of the family of Brandon Lopez, a criminal who was shot dead in Santa Ana after a long police standoff.

The timing of this lawsuit is awful given that Sarmiento is running for OC Supervisor in the upcoming November Election. He will be opposed in November by Kim Bernice Nguyen, a Garden Grove City Council Member who has the support of most of the Santa Ana City Council and is also supported by law enforcement. Nguyen’s mom is a Latina which makes her a very interesting bicultural candidate.

Now that you know about this lawsuit will you still vote for Sarmiento? Let us know in the survey below!

Will you still vote for Sarmiento even though his family is suing the City of Santa Ana?
