  1. Maybe the two under the age of 18 who were in the car with the deceased learned that being in a gang isn’t worth dying for.

The body was left lying there at least to 11:30pm for all to see.

  2. May be gang related? How about, most likely gang related. This and its companion shooting, er, incident…. were both gang related. The obvious signs are there or the gang unit would not have rolled on the incidents.

So much for Santa Ana’s “4th safest city” designation.

    1. You’re kidding, right? We have had very few homicides this year. Look at comparable big cities like Oakland and Long Beach. Homicides happen in those cities every week.

  3. Shootings happen weekly in your “Big City”. They are just lousy shots so they don’t kill anyone as often. If it is so safe, why does the gang detail need their own homicide unit?

    1. You sound just like all the racist Republicans who bash our city and our City Council. A lot of OC cities have gang problems. Anyone in Santa Ana who has been here for awhile can tell you that things have improved, compared to the crime in the 70’s.

There are a lit of good people in this city who are doing their best to raise their families. Only haters focus on the negativity.

  4. First of all, where in any of my posts here – or anywhere on any of your blogs for that matter, did I mention race? But, you are quick to throw the race card down because you just know I am white?

Second, I don’t like being called names. I am a Libertarian, thank you, not a Republican. If you would take the time to look at my profile, you would know where I am coming from, but that must be too much work for you and it is easier just to call someone racist. Last time I looked, there was a pretty good cross-section of America in “Downtown Orange County”.

That said, I do know what I am talking about when it comes to gang-related shootings (again, take a look at the profile). These were gang-related. No doubt in anyone’s mind except maybe yours. From day one, I have questioned Forbes’ “4th Safetst City” designation and I have questioned their theory behind it. It doesn’t make me a hater, it makes me skeptical.

You are free to dissent. But, calling people uncalled for names, even on your own blog, is,… well, uncalled for.

    1. Oh I am used to guys like you, beating around the bush. Why don’t you just be honest and blame Latinos like you probably do when you’re around your pals and aren’t writing on a blog?

And stop calling yourself a Libertarian. Union hacks don’t belong in our party.

  5. See, there you go with the names again. I am a proud union member and I do not see any problem with that and being a Libertarian. Apparently, it is you who doesn’t understand the true libertarian or you would just let be, let be.

I am honest and do not go around blaming Latinos for anything. I blame the 1%ers of course. The rich get richer and the poor, even the Latino poor, get poorer.

Oh yeah, wasn’t Cesar Chavez for unions? And I just happened to stand with him back then, as I would now.

In any case, you digress. So, I will get you back on track. There are, for your information, many white and black gangs in Orange County. Why, there are even some Pacific Islanders that have creeped in…. Let’s not mention the Russian Mob and their offshoots (think Irvine)…

    1. I am glad you brought up Chavez. His organization was VERY anti immigrant. In fact he often gave speeches where he bashed immigrants. http://www.alternet.org/story/154859/the_rise_and_fall_of_cesar_chavez_and_the_united_farm_workers?page=4.

And Prop. 187 passed because of union voters.

Your constant sniping at Santa Ana when we suffer tragic shootings underscores how you really feel about our city and those who live here. I have heard this rhetoric before, from Republicans like Thomas Gordon and the Democrats who gather at Drinking Liberally.

      Take your hatred elsewhere.

  6. OK, Art. I’ll leave you in the misery of your town and be happy that I live in our town. Whine away and I’ll be the onlyLibertarian drinking with my good friend Thomas and the rest of the DL folks without skewing the memory of a great man. Who is the Hater now?

    1. I have no love for anyone who bashes immigrants. But do stick with Tommy Boy and the Lib OC crew. They will be more than happy to join you in bashing immigrants. Maybe the lot of you can do it in Cesar Chavez t-shirts.
