If you advance to 5:00:34 in the above Santa Ana City Council meeting video you will listen to Santa Ana City Councilman Johnathan Ryan Hernandez explaining why he refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to our U.S. Flag. His explanation makes little sense. He says until there is justice there will be no peace. Then he states that the Anaheim police officers who shot and killed his criminal cousin, Brandon Lopez, should be arrested.

The fact however is that Hernandez has been disrespecting the U.S. Flag since he was a kid. Check out the video below, at the 6:20 run time. In that video he says he could not pledge allegiance due to a war that was going on at the time.

Hernandez, by his own admission, is the only male in his family not to end up in jail. He clearly has no clue about what our flag actually represents – the freedom and liberty that we enjoy in these United States. Granted our nation as a whole needs to improve when it comes to race relations but we have come a long way.

An elected City Councilman is a role model. Hernandez however does not see that. Instead he disrespects our flag and maligns the police who keep us safe. As we posted earlier this week he even praises cop killers. He should be ashamed of himself.

Sadly Hernandez and the rest of Santa Ana Mayor Vince Sarmiento’s Gang of Four, which includes City Council Members Thai Viet Phan and Jessie Lopez, are doing a lot of damage to our city. And no one on the City Council has had the backbone to stand up to the petulant Hernandez.

The fact is most Santa Ana residents love this country. And many of our local families have been involved in our Armed Forces, as attested to by the mural at the La Chiquita Market, honoring our Mexican American Veterans. That mural was of course defaced by punks who share Hernandez’ distaste for our country.

All of our Santa Ana City Council Members, including Hernandez, took the following Oath of Office when they were sworn in to their elected positions:

“I, _, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.

“And I do further swear (or affirm) that I do not advocate, nor am I a member of any party or organization, political or otherwise, that now advocates the overthrow of the Government of the United States or of the State of California by force or violence or other unlawful means; that within the five years immediately preceding the taking of this oath (or affirmation) I have not been a member of any party or organization, political or otherwise, that advocated the overthrow of the Government of the United States or of the State of California by force or violence or other unlawful means except as follows: and that during such time as I hold the office of _ (name of office) _I will not advocate nor become a member of any party or organization, political or otherwise, that advocates the overthrow of the Government of the United States or of the State of California by force or violence or other unlawful means.”

When Hernandez disrespects our flag and maligns our police while propping up criminals is he being faithful to that Oath of Office?
