Over the past several days, several suspects committed several armed robberies and one attempted robbery near the intersection of Euclid St. and Crescent Ave., according to the Anaheim Police Department.

During two of the incidents, the suspects were in possession of a knife and firearm and fled on a dark-colored electric scooter.

Scooters have been used largely by undocumented immigrants in New York to commit hundreds of armed robberies and the New York Police Department has resorted to seizing almost two hundred illegal scooters, according to the Queens County District Attorney. Now it seems this trend has started in Orange County as well.

If you have any information regarding the robberies or the suspects’ identities, contact Detective M. Vargas by calling APD Dispatch at 714-765-1900 or by emailing him at MVargas@anaheim.net.

This trend of using scooters to commit armed robberies is sure to start soon in Santa Ana as well. Our advice is to always be aware of your surroundings. Avoid wearing flashy jewelry in public. Purses are often targeted as well so if you can avoid them, do so. Criminals in New York have also been stealing smart phones then hacking them and pilfering bank accounts! Keep your phones in your pocket when walking around. And avoid listening to music via ear buds. You need to hear the bad guys coming!
