Gustavo Pablo Munguia, a 33-year-old Garden Grove man, was arrested after being accused of stabbing his roommate at a sober living home, on Sunday, March 6.

The stabbing was reported to the Garden Grove Police Department on Saturday, March 5, at about 10:12 a.m. at the 12800 block of Safford West. The responding police officers found a man who had been stabbed, on the front lawn of the home. He was taken to a local hospital.

The victim was in critical condition on Sunday after undergoing a four-hour surgery. He is said to be improving.

The suspect fled before the police officers arrived. The police detectives did identify the victim’s roommate, Munguia, as the suspect in the stabbing.

Mungia was later located by Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies as he was driving in Perris. They took him into custody.

The investigating detectives do not yet know the motive for the attack but confirmed that the stabbing happened in the roommates’ shared bedroom.
