An Irvine police officer came across a disabled vehicle in lanes of traffic on the northbound 405 Freeway, near the 22, as they drove home Wednesday night. Officer Cameron was concerned about the safety of the people inside the car, so he stopped to help.

He discovered a large piece of wood had fallen off a truck and went through the car’s windshield. Thankfully, the wood traveled between the driver and passenger, and neither was injured. The Irvine Police Department’s K9 team blocked traffic until their friends from the CHP arrived to assist.

The Irvine Police Dept. reminds us that gravity is not an acceptable way of securing your cargo. Please make sure objects and materials like wood are properly tied down.
