Santa Ana resident Edgar Garfias Ramirez, 21, has been identified as one of two men who died last Thursday morning when the car they were in flipped over on the 5 freeway in Tustin, just south of the 55, according to the O.C. Register.

Ramirez and a second unidentified victim, a 22-year-old Tustin man, were pronounced dead at the scene due to head injuries. Both were passengers in the car that flipped over.

The driver of the car was Isaac Sauceda, 19, of Santa Ana. He was driving a maroon 2008 Scion TC  just past midnight on the 5 Freeway when he veered off the road, according to the CHP. The car then hit a raised curb before it sailed through the air and turn over onto its roof, in an area with dirt and ice plants.

OCFA firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the passengers from the crashed vehicle, according to the OCFA.

The CHP has stated that Sauceda was not under the influence at the time of the accident. He was sitting on the side of the freeway when the OCFA personnel arrived. He was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana where he was declared to be in moderate condition with a head injury.

CHP investigators are asking any witnesses to call the CHP Santa Ana office at 714-567-6000.
