Remember a few weeks back when we noticed that the SAPD was no longer reporting crime data to Crimemapping – a website that logs crime activity throughout the U.S.? Well today the SAPD finally admitted what happened.

The SAPD noted in a press release that  the Department changed its computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and apparently because of that the link between the CAD and CrimeMapping.com stopped working and had to be rebuilt.

Apparently the link has been restored as we can now look at Santa Ana’s crime information once again, here. I wish I could tell you that there is good news – but just in the past three days 341 crimes have been recorded, including:

  • 12 weapon-related incidents
  • 52 assaults
  • 139 disturbing the peace incidents
  • 23 motor vehicle thefts
  • 13 DUIs
  • 19 burglaries
  • and 7 robberies

So the situation in our city remains tough – but at least now we can find out for ourselves how bad things really are in Santa Ana.
