The SAUSD was forced to evacuate part of Lowell Elementary School this morning after an armed robbery suspect decided to park his vehicle in the school’s driveway after a police pursuit.

SAPD officers spotted the suspect, who allegedly was involved in several robberies, at about 8 a.m. The suspect fled in his vehicle and the pursuit came to an end at the west driveway of the school’s campus, at 700 S. Flower St.

SAPD police officers negotiated with the suspect until he was finally taken into custody at 12:09 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The SAUSD announced an hour ago that “Police activity has been resolved safely and the lockdowns are lifted. Students may be picked up from school, but may also remain until regular dismissal if needed.”
